Maurice’s Story

 

In 2004, Maurice T. Davis was wrongly convicted as an accessory to a 1997 double homicide in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a sentence of life without parole and is currently confined at the Jefferson City Correctional Center.

Maurice has been using his time in prison to read books, study the law, and help others with their cases. He is currently the President of the JCCC chapter of the NAACP, as well as co-chairman of the Legal Redress and Political Action Committees. He has drafted legislative bills to reinstate earned good-time, reduce mandatory minimum sentencing and impose transparency and better procedures concerning use of informant testimony.
